Introducing a new full feature I will be doing on etsy sellers! A feature complete will a full interview. :) My first feature is Lorelei from Handmade Jewelry by Lorelei. Check out our interview below!

Please tell us a little bit more about the artist behind Handmade Jewelry by Lorelei? I am a thirty something, married with one cat, tall but not so thin, creative and busy, beader who is addicted to all things beads. No, seriously. I can't surf etsy without finding some cool new handmade bead that I just gotta have. It's a real sickness. I work full time in an art museum in Upstate NY. My jewelry designs are created in the evenings between dinner and bedtime, needless to say- I don't hang out with said husband often enough. I do try to make up for it on the weekends by doing fun non-beady things- we enjoy going antiquing, or working in the flower gardens, and cooking is always a fun project together.

When did you first discover jewelry design and when did you first start selling on Etsy? At Christmas, of 2006, I decided I wanted to try to create my own gifts. I picked up a Stringing magazine, and taught myself all of basic techniques. I created so much jewelry and was blowing money on beads left and right that my husband suggested I try selling some of it so that I could support my own bead purchases. I found Etsy in February, signed up the same day, and started selling a few months later in July.

What are your favorite materials to work with? There are SO many, but definitely Art Beads of any type. Then broken down into categories it would be, Ceramics, Lampwork glass, wood, Mixed media, Chain, metal, Polyclay, and all natural beads like seeds.

What are some of the things that most inspire you? I am always inspired by nature. My jewelry tends to have an earthy feel to it. I love earth tones like green, pale blue, rust colors. I am often inspired by other jewelry I see, and peruse Etsy and online stores often.

How do you promote your work? So that I don't get overwhelmed with the amount of different social medias, I keep it simple. I blog, Facebook, and Twitter all new listings. That's pretty much all I can keep up with. I keep a regular blog, and update it on a daily basis. The blog is my favorite way to keep customers informed of new listings, plus the connection formed between me and them is priceless.

What are a few things you have learned since you began selling on etsy? My favorite thing about selling handmade goods to people who long handmade goods, is the connection I feel to each buyer. I also purchase a large majority of my supplies on Etsy so I have created long lasting friendships with many sellers as well. I am quite loyal and tend to buy a lot from the same sellers over and over.
I have learned that I wish Etsy had an easier, mainstreamed checkout system; that some sellers don't get it- that customer service is even more important in an online shopping venue than in person, that I don't always get the courtesy that I deserve. But which just makes me a better seller/buyer. That's just the tip of the iceberg. I could talk about my issues with Etsy til the cows come home.

Any tips or words for those out there who may be new to crafting or selling? Be patient!! It takes a long time to get started. Patience is KEY. PROMOTE PROMOTE PROMOTE!! List new things DAILY!! Thank each buyer when selling something. Let them know when the piece ships!! Always trust your first instinct, when creating.

I recently stumbled across a shop called AlluRing Jewelry on etsy, and I was amazed. I may be a jewelry designer myself, but one thing I have not learned to do yet is step into the world of rings. My admiration for this shop has no limits! If I knew for sure what my ring size was right now, and my paypal funds would allow a little luxury for myself, I would absolutely buy her Lucsious Amethyst Ring (also pictured above), it just sparkles, and you can tell how well the rings are crafted.

She's already the featured etsy shop on etsy today, but I couldn't resist featuring savor's lovely soaps, as well! I've been meaning to purchase some of her soap for a while now, and today, as a celebration of her being the featured seller, I finally did! I ordered the Spun Sugar Soap and the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough soap!

Next on my list? Her Sex Appeal soap, Pink Grapefruit Granita soap, and Chocolate Milk soap, just to name a few!

It occurred to me that I haven't featured any of etsy's wonderful accessories on I Heart Etsy yet, and that just isn't right! So I am introducing a lovely shop by the name of Button Boutique! Button Boutique's beautiful line of accessories include hair clip barrettes, ponytail holders, mini ponytail holders, bobby pins, headbands, necklaces, rings, bracelets, magnets, bookmark hipclips, and she even does custom monogrammed ponytail holders, headbands and barrettes!

The thing that first caught my attention was the bright, fun and beautiful fabrics and designs she uses in her creations. They would truly brighten up your day!

Another seller I knew I just had to feature is the exceptionally talented jpleasant on etsy! Joyce Pleasant is her name, hailing from Georgia, USA!

Her bags and purses are cute, clever, colourful and beautifully crafted. I ordered her Pink and Multi Color Circle Hobo Bag in September of '07, and it's been with me every day since! I recieve so many compliments everyday and it's no wonder.. the quality craftmanship is astounding, and the bag is adorably colourful and comfortable as well!

Joyce is well worth the visit!

Her shop title says 'Vintage meets Modern' and that is exactly what you will find in Clevergirl's etsy shop! Her jewelry designs are unique, vintage, modern, fun, colourful, and cute! Her mix of the materials she uses always makes her pieces look so fresh and inspired.

Now, I am a bath and body etsy addict! I've tried to curb my spending in this area, but there are just so many wonderful bath and body etsyians (and more everyday!) that's it's just hard not to purchase these wonderful, creamy, fascinating, homemade creations! One such shop is that of Sue, or Madcitysue as she is known on etsy. Her company Mad City Soap LLC is a pleasurable experience that any one should try!

I've made several purchases from Sue in my time on etsy, some quite big custom orders, and they all make it to me in record time - smelling delicious on top of that! Who wouldn't love to try a Whipped Sugar Body Scrub in Frosted Pink Cupcake, or Cotton Candy, or Vanilla Tootsie Roll?

Her lovely line of products includes well over 125 fragrance choices in Dry Oil Body Sprays, Soy Souffle Body Butter, Shower Parfaits and Gels, Sugar Scrubs, and Roll on Perfumes! Not to mention her section of cold-compressed soaps!

It's definitely worth a visit to Mad City Soap!

The next featured etsyian is a wonderful jewelry designer, by the username of mcfarlanddesigns! I'm sure you've already heard of her, but if you haven't, you really need to! Her designs are always so beautiful - the colours she uses together, the stones and beads, everything. There isn't one of her designs that I don't look at and say, "Wow!" Her pieces are truly awe-inspiring!

I certainly had the pleasure of coming across a new shop; a shop that completely astounded me. This amazing seller comes from Toronto, Ontario, Canada and I have never in my life seen someone make something so incredibley beautiful using only a pencil. He is one of the best artists I have ever had the pleasure to see, and believe me, I plan on buying a print sometime in the near future! You definitely need to check out this artists amazing work!
